Hello and welcome to my home page. My name is Shapoor
Shayegani. I have studied medicine at "Tehran University of Medical Sciences", Iran.
During all the university years, I tried to learn computer programming and touched a lot of programming languages. At first it was a hobby! but
became more serious as I learned and experienced more. Actually, my interest toward computer science made me
jump into the IT field after graduation. I worked almost three years in
this field as a web-programmer and database designer.
Learning about the field of "Health Informatics",
I found it the best area I could work in. A combination of medicine and information technology!
So, I decided to be a "Health Informatics Specialist".
Health Informatics is "The science that studies the use and processing of data,
information, and knowledge applied to medicine, health care and public health." -
van Bemmel JH, Musen MA, eds. Handbook of Medical Informatics. AW Houten, Netherlands:
Bohn Stafleu Van Loghum; Heidelberg, Germany: Springer Verlag, 1997.
After completing my Master of Health Informatics degree at Dalhousie University in 2007, I moved to Calgary, Alberta, and started my current job with Calgary Health Region as an Analyst.
